This was written by Michael Dolan from Cloghan in the 1950’s in celebration of the opening of the Boora Railway Line which transported peat from the West Offaly bogs to the local Power Stations in Ferbane and Shannonbridge. The camaraderie of the workers is legendary and the place was awash with characters until it was decommissioned and transformed into Lough Boora Visitor Park in recent years.
