In the centre of our neighbouring village was a roundabout which was called The Square. Then they
got rid of the roundabout and erected a state-of-the-art set of traffic lights. It was a first for road traffic
management in West Offaly but still causes consternation locally. Some view it as a lethargic system,
frustratingly slow to change red to green. Others are delighted to take the time at the lights to reflect,
perhaps read a book or meditate for ten minutes.
